§ 31 · Shooting & timing

green window

The span of time in a jump shot where releasing counts as perfectly timed.

The span of time during a jump shot in which letting go counts as a perfectly timed, or green, release. Release before the window and the shot is graded early; after it, late.

How wide the window is depends on your jumpshot, the kind of shot (standstill, fade, off the dribble), the contest, and your in-game timing settings. A shot meter that is turned on narrows it.
